McNab Substation

Electric Boiler Demand

McNab Substation was upgraded in 2023 to supply the increase in load for the Mataura Valley Milk Dairy Factory’s electric boiler installation.

When originally built in 2019 McNab Substation was supplied at via twin 33kV cable circuits at 11kV, directly from the South Gore Substation. In 2023 two new 33/11kV Transformers were installed and the switchgear upgraded. Supply came directly from TransPower Gore Substation via two 33kV Feeders.

McNab Substation was upgraded with the addition of two 33/11kV 15/25 MVA Transformers, a Neutral Earthing Resistor and the addition of one 11kV indoor circuit breaker to the existing bus.
